Ryan Nguyen

Ryan Duong Nguyen is a rising senior at Rutgers University, New Brunswick. Majoring in Biotechnology with minors in Biochemistry and Business Administration, he plans to pursue an MD-PhD and become a physician scientist. He worked in the Huang Lab for the 2024 summer as part of the SURF program, and was heavily involved in many projects ranging from optimizing ChiP-Seq protocols and examining the role of TLR7 signaling of R-loops in septic mouse models. At Rutgers, he conducts C. elegans research to uncover the mechanisms behind exophergenesis, large neuronal extrusions implicated in neurodegenerative diseases. Aside from academics, he is the president of the Vietnamese Student Association at his school, and has been playing the drums for over 10 years!
